You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

The pursuit of perfection often impedes improvement. — George Will
A fern with one leaf missing in the middle.

We often expect nothing but perfection from ourselves. Yet, we don’t hold anybody else to the same standard. We know that it would be unrealistic and counterproductive, as perfection is not an attainable goal.

We tolerate and forgive the mistakes of others, we understand that they’re only human on a journey of self-improvement, just like everyone else.

What if we start applying the same principle to ourselves?

It’s OK to fail, to be angry or mad, to miss the target or to have a bad day. Give yourself some credit. You’ve come far, you’re breathing, improving, learning from your mistakes.

You can pick up the slack tomorrow, just keep in mind that it still won’t be perfect, and that’s perfectly fine.
