Be Optimistic, Be Cautious

If I advocate cautious optimism it is not because I do not have faith in the future but because I do not want to encourage blind faith. — Aung San Suu Kyi

Media always feeds on sensationalism. These days, if you watch or read the news, you’re very likely to conclude that there is no hope for humanity.

As it turns out, we seem to like polar opposites. Either we’re all going to die, or we’ll all be perfectly fine. The truth, of course, is somewhere in the middle.

When certain things start happening around you, you’d be a fool to ignore them, and particularly so if this endangers you, your loved ones, or just people around you in general.

With that in mind, panicking won’t be useful either. It’ll make you stressed out anxious and ill-prepared to face the challenges that might be coming to you.

We could all use some optimism, but just as well, we could all use some caution. And when my health is at stake, I’d much rather err on the side of caution than on the side of optimism. For almost everything else, it’s probably better to be positive.

Be optimistic, be cautious and most of all, be healthy & safe!
