Beyond Showing Up
Showing up every day isn't enough. There are a lot of people who show up every day who shouldn't have showed up at all. — James Caan
Last week I spoke a bit about the importance of showing up. I wanted to outline the value of shipping regularly as clearly and concisely as possible while demonstrating it at the same time.
It was one-dimensional though, and as you certainly figured out, the truth is that just showing up isn’t really enough.
Showing up is necessary, but most of the time, it isn’t what we’re expecting from you.
What we actually need you to do is not just to show up every day, but to show up every day entirely — committed, focused, determined — and to do the generous work that only you can.
