Just Get It Done
If I waited for perfection... I would never write a word. — Margaret Atwood
Perfection appears like a worthy, noble objective, but it’s often just a hindrance. Perfectionism kills dreams, invites procrastination, and stops you from finishing anything.
It’s an unattainable, unreachable goal; you can refine your work endlessly, but it’ll never be perfect. All you can strive for is good enough. Anything more than that will most likely just be different, not objectively better by any measure.
Recognizing good enough is hard, but it’s an essential skill if you want to live a productive, creative life. Don’t refine your art endlessly, just get it done and ship it. It’s the only way forward.
It’s Never Going to Be Perfect, So Just Get It Done
By agonizing over tiny improvements in our work — if they even are improvements — we prevent ourselves from achieving the actual goal of accomplishing something.
A Chance for Better
Don’t seek perfection, but glimmers of good and seek to amplify them. Mistakes can be seen, errors can be improved upon, progress can be made. But only if we embrace the chance for good.
The Goal is Good Enough, Not Perfection
Get it to good enough, let it go, and just get it done.
