Be Slightly Better Than Yesterday
Great things are done by a series of small things brought together. — Vincent Van Gogh
We’re expecting too much from ourselves. We want to be perfect, have an unbroken streak, impeccable creative output, and productivity without an ounce of procrastination.
But that’s not realistic. And it’s not fair to expect this from ourselves. If we do, we’ll fail eventually, be disappointed, and perhaps even discouraged.
Is there’s a better way? Could we lower our expectations? What if we stop aiming for perfection, and aim for slight improvement instead?
Don’t hold yourself to the impossible standards. Just try to be a little bit better than you were yesterday. If you can do this consistently, you’ll improve a lot in a year, let alone in a lifetime.
