Don’t Be Just Busy

It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about? — Henry David Thoreau
A messy desk with a laptop and a bunch of crumpled papers.

A lot of people (myself included) fall into the trap of busyness. We work hard, get things done, we tick off tasks in our task managers, and feel good about it.

The more things we do, the better we feel, the more productive we are, right?

Not exactly. Just being busy is not enough. Working hard on irrelevant things won’t get you anywhere. You should actually make sure to work on the things that will move you closer to your goals, that make a difference and have the biggest impact.

Don’t be just busy. Be busy doing things that matter.
