Fear of Launching
Real artists ship. — Steve Jobs
The scariest part if any project is launch, the moment when you have to stand in front of the entire world and show what you’ve created.
It opens you up to the critique, judgment and possibly failure.
It’s frightening but crucial. Especially if you consider the alternative, which is hiding and certain failure. Making up new features, rewriting and reworking it endlessly are convenient excuses, and an easy trap many people fall into.
Whatever it is you’re working on currently, finish it (aim to make it good enough instead of perfect), and ship it.
Getting Over the Fear of Launching
Greg Schier came up with a few strategies to help convince himself—and you—to launch.
Fear of Shipping
Shipping is fraught with risk and danger. A life spent curled in a ball, hiding in the corner might seem less risky, but in fact, it’s certain to lead to ennui and eventually failure.
Until Next Week
Remember, it only has to be good enough, so wrap it up and share it generously with the world.
