What Is the Way Forward?

“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.” — Arthur C. Clarke
A person standing at an end of a path, in front of a majestic tree.
Even if there is something in your way that blocks the path forward, it oftentimes turns out to be just a beautiful tree that will help you grow. Just like in this dreamy piece by Samantha Lee.

Whenever I feel like I’m getting nowhere, like things aren’t developing as they should, like I’m stuck (and let’s be real, I’m stuck more often than I would like to be stuck, just as everyone), I make a conscious effort to remind myself that this isn’t a permanent, fixed, unchangeable state.

Because this is what our minds like to tell us, this is how we deceive ourselves. We think about our current failure and go down the rabbit hole of what we should have done, why this isn’t fair, and why all hope is lost.

But the reality is oftentimes much more beautiful than that. In every situation, no matter how dire it is, there is a way forward.

So if you’re stuck, make a conscious effort to remind yourself that you should look for a way forward. And if you’re persistent, if you’re willing to change things (and you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t), you will find it.

It might not be what you expected, and it might take you to a different (better!) destination entirely, but you will find it.

There is always a way forward.

PS. I often feel like there’s no way forward with this newsletter, so I would really appreciate it if you could share it with others on Twitter or Facebook.
