Change Your Mind
You are always free to change your mind and choose a different future, or a different past. — Richard Bach
Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes, and we all lose our way every now and then. Heck, some of us might lose our way every day. And as Matthew Inman says, there’s a lot of shame associated with this; it means you made a mistake, that you failed, and you have to admit a defeat.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can all acknowledge that we’re gonna make mistakes along our way, that we will change our mind when the new evidence presents itself, that we will fearlessly backpedal, kill our darlings, and start over when necessary.
Whatever it is that you do, be it cartooning, writing, or programming, you can apply this principle to it. Consider your current state as your best, and as soon as you realize that you went in the wrong direction, step back, correct your course and don’t feel bad about it. After all, we’re all just students, we’re all just learning.
Until Next Week
Try different things, explore, change your mind, learn, change your mind again, go further, step back, erase if necessary.
